There are 2 sides to the pre paid legal services scam story. First we have the legal services side to consider and also the business proposition side to think about. Let us take them one at a time.

Pre Paid Legal Services Scam

Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc is a publicly traded company (NYSE:PPL) that has been providing subscription-based legal plans and services since 1972. Today, the company serves over 1.5 million clients in the U.S. And Canada.

For $26 or less every month, families and home entrepreneurs have direct telephone access to a local legal company to get guidance and counsel. Legal assistence is provided for almost every thing you can imagine including document review when buying a place or an auto, setting up a will, handling issues with insurance corporation claims, handling I. D. theft issues and more . Much more. Various riders are also available including a legal shield rider, home busines rider, and even a corporate record keeping option.

So you have to ask? Here is a publicly-traded company serving over 1.5 clients. If the legal services they provide weren't on the up and up, if they did not work with high reputation law firms, they company would've been made to close their door a long, long time ago. Instead, they've been alive and well for over 38 years! Scam. Crime. Worthless? Most unlikely.

Pre Paid Legal Scam

Now let's take a look at the business venture.

According to the Media Moogle site which gives a selection of PrePaid Legal info inclduing articles, suits, beefs, pyramid scheme accusations, and more... The company profits decreased 8% in 2009 but , in the same period of time, the amount of new sales distributors enrolled decreased 17.8%. Which is strange, in actual fact because when most social marketing firms actually see a major increase in their distritorship base during bad business times. Because when times get rough, folk frequently start looking for techniques to make extra cash and a good M.L.M opportunity the preferred choice of many [*T].

Of course in ANY internet promotion opportunity you'll have a miniscule percentage of the active distributors who make a big living. Most will never make a time. It is simply the way that it is. One or two will make millions, many will make the best living, and most will fail to supply a reasonable profit. That has nothing at all to do with the so-called pre paid legal scam claims. It is a viable business which has beaten the test to time for over 30 years!

That being said, as you may or may not know, I also own one of the hottest mlm leads sites on the web. So over time we have worked with hundreds of distributors from virtually every social marketing opportunity on the planet and the majority of the feedback I have received over the years is the attrition rate for pre-paid legal services is pretty steep. And when you are making an attempt to expand a business suffering from a high attrition rate - it's like trying to fill a bucket full of water that has got a leak at the bottom. If you can fill it faster than it is dribbling - you'll show a good profit. The challenge is you can not STOP actively filling the bucket!

appears sensible?

So if you are seriously considering starting our own business, you can quickly discount all the pre paid legal services scam claims. They're fraudulent. It is a good, stable, well respected company with a proven track record.

But before you jump in with both feet you actually need to pause and consider precisely how you will promote and grow your new business. What's your selling plan? How do you intend to publicize and plug the legal services ( to get new customers ) and the business proposition?

The right way to start is to contact all your family, mates, work mates, colleagues and local economy owners. This will keep your expenses down and, if approached properly, you net one or two good clients and perhaps a few good business builders. But what are you going to do when you exhaust your warm market?

Listen - the general public fail to build a moneymaking social marketing business because they never actually sat down and worked out a way to constantly pitch the product, service or opportunity, cost effectively, over an extended period. And new leads, new prospects, new purchasers and a regular flow of new business builders is the name of the game.

So the first thing you should do before starting any new business is to determine exactly how you intend to market and promote the business.
